Race Report:
The 2012 TQ Midget Season started off with a bang! It was a beautiful night in Punta Gorda. The TQ Midgets welcome back our past champion, Ted Durfee from Sarasota and Rob Kohler from Naples, who will run for Rookie of the Year.
The first heat race saw Geoff Styner lead from flag to flag for an easy win. The second heat race saw Jay Stutz take the #6 to the checkers. It was a nice way to start the season for Jay's team.
The feature race saw Geoff Styner lead for the first 10 laps until Jamie Barnum was able to get by him on lap 11. A caution was brought out on lap 20, when the 3rd place car of Steven Maier's engine expired. This caused a 5-lap shoot-out to the end. The top 3 cars of Barnum, Styner & Rookie, Rob Kohler put on an awesome display of open-wheel racing with Barnum coming out on top, followed by Kohler and Styner in the 3rd spot.
Our next race will be at Punta Gorda Speedway on Saturday, March 10. See you there.
